The Northwest Vipers Youth Kitted team returned to action for Blitz Two of the 2026 season, opening their day against the Cork Admirals at the Sport Ireland Campus, Blanchardstown. Development remains at the heart of this young Vipers side, with more new players getting their first experience of competitive American football. Against a strong Admirals team, the Vipers faced a difficult opening half but continued to compete and showed improvement as the game progressed.

First Half Summary

The Admirals started strongly and were able to establish control early in the contest. A number of scores put the Vipers on the back foot as Cork built momentum and opened up a 20–0 advantage by halftime.

For a Vipers squad still learning and developing together, the opening half provided another valuable test. Several players were experiencing competitive American football for the first time, but the young Vipers continued to battle through the difficult periods and gain valuable experience with every snap.

Second Half Summary

The Vipers responded positively after the break and began to find more success offensively. Runningback Peter Danowski provided the breakthrough, using his legs to find the end zone and put six points on the board for Northwest.

The passing game also began to open up, with Eoin Danowski producing a number of big catches and giving the Vipers another threat as the offence grew into the contest. The improved second-half showing was a deserved reward for a team that refused to let the difficult opening period define its performance.

The Admirals would add another score of their own before the final whistle, bringing the game to a close at 28–6.

Peter Danowski provided the Vipers' scoring moment, finding the end zone in the second half to continue his strong start to the Youth Kitted season. Eoin Danowski also impressed in the passing game, coming down with a number of big catches and providing a reliable target for the Vipers offence.

Beyond the individual moments, the game provided another valuable opportunity for the entire squad, particularly the new players getting their first taste of competitive American football and learning the demands of the game against quality opposition.

The 28–6 defeat doesn't tell the full story of a Vipers team still very much at the beginning of its development. With new players stepping onto the field for the first time and the squad continuing to build experience together, every game represents another opportunity to improve. The focus quickly turned to the second game of Blitz Two, with another chance for this young group to put those lessons into action.
